Who we are & why we care.

In 2017, Hydro rates were on the rise. This had many people, including we the Irwin family, seeking ways to heat homes without power.
We noticed there was no dedicated location for alternate heat source available in the region, yet builders remarked that many people were interested in purchasing homes with a fireplace. And so, in February 2018, Miles Irwin and Adam Irwin, alongside their father Brent Irwin, established Countryside Fireplaces in downtown Portage la Prairie.
When the Thanksgiving storm of 2019 left friends and neighbours without power for days, it reinforced a need for alternate heating sources in Portage and throughout the Central Plains region.
To us, it’s important to have a heat source that works even during power outages. Our fireplaces have also become a natural family gathering space away from screens. That’s why we feel it’s important to bring these options to clients throughout the Central Plains region.
Today, Countryside Fireplaces is proud to serve people from Neepawa to Glenboro, and from St. François Xavier to the border, and beyond.
